Neighborhoods of St. Augustine’s Florida School for the Deaf and Blind (FSDB), and Uptown North

The area north of May Street is one of St. Augustine’s most storied neighborhoods (music great Ray Charles once called the area home, after all). The Florida School for the Deaf and Blind is located here, Main Library and Davenport Park (the carousel park) are located here, and it’s just around the corner from the Vilano Bridge and its beaches. This Uptown North location is still blessedly close to the Historic District, yet still an easy ride to the airport and even I-95. There are some classic old developments here, including Hildreth Back Bay, Sanchez Sub, Fullerwood Park, and Nelmar Terrace. The homes generally have the larger lots typical of days gone by, and there are a variety of architectural styles ranging from shotgun homes to big Southern classics with open and inviting verandas.
